Is Nausea A Symptom Of Heartburn?

When you feel bad, you just want to know what’s going on with your body at all costs. When it’s something you’ve never felt before, you tend to think that maybe it’s something really serious. And when you begin to feel symptoms that you aren’t familiar with, along with symptoms you frequently get, you tend to think that something really serious is going on. An example is with heartburn. Many people get heartburn now and again. Usually, it’s from eating something spicy right before bed. When you get heartburn frequently, you tend to become familiar with the symptoms. You know chronic heartburn symptoms like the back of your hand because you get them all the time. However, what if you suddenly get nausea with your heartburns? Is nausea a symptom of heartburn? Or is there maybe something more serious going on? It depends on you, the situation and what type of nausea you’re experiencing.

Your Body

You should know your body by now. If you get heartburn all the time and you never experience nausea as a symptom of heartburn, you should know that something more serious is going on. You should also know what causes your heartburn. Some people get heartburn every time they eat jalapenos, for example, but they keep on eating them because they love them. They just figure they’ll take an antacid and take care of it later. Think back to the cause of your heartburn and try to determine if that would have caused the nausea as a symptom of heartburn. You may have eaten something bad or something your body didn’t agree with. If that’s the case, then you should relax and try to treat the symptoms with your normal medicine.

Severity

On the other hand, if your nausea as a symptom of heartburn is severe, such as would be the case if you’re vomiting heavily, or if you see blood in your vomit, or in your excrement, then yes, something more serious is going on. You should see a doctor as soon as possible as these are not normal signs of heartburn and your nausea is more than likely a sign that something’s just not right with your insides.

It may be nothing but if you have never had nausea as a symptom of heartburn and all of a sudden you’re getting nausea and heartburn together with increased frequency, see a doctor just to be sure that you’re in good shape.
